Cocoa-senpai's Elegant Tea Party Tutorial (ココア先輩の優雅なお茶会チュートリアル?) is the fourth episode of Is the Order a Rabbit?? anime series.

Synopsis[]

To celebrate everyone passing the school year Cocoa decides the group should celebrate with a Tea Party. But while Chino, Maya and Megumi try acting grown-up to impress the others, Cocoa tries working on her older sister skills before Mocha arrives.

Summary[]

One morning, Chino, Megumi and Maya are walking home from school when Chino subconsciously twirls to catch one of the falling petals from a sakura tree. Maya and Megumi compliment her and she expresses surprise. As some girls walk by with flowers Megumi brings up the ceremony taking place, then she recalls Cocoa will be graduating.

Just then, Cocoa approaches the girls in tears. They bring her to the park and begin to discuss how its nearly been a year since she arrived. Sharo, Chiya and Rize approach the group wondering why she got so worked up over it, then they go on to explain their plans of meeting up to visit a cafe for tea to celebrate moving up in school. They came to invite the others to join them, leading Maya to teasingly ask if they are cheating on Rabbit House.

At the cafe, the older four sit at one table while Chino, Maya and Megumi sit at another. Maya wishes to be grown up and comments that it would be fun to casually invite younger friends out for tea, then suggests that Megumi try it out on Chino. But she comes off as being shady, which makes them laugh. The girls admire Sharo's sophistication and attempt to emulate her when a woman brings them a set of various cakes, causing them to immediately drop the act. Cocoa is revealed to have sent them and they thank her and prepare to dig in, until Megumi reveals you must eat them in order. Unfortunately she doesn't know which order and they end up stressing out to the point of not eating any.

Chino suggests they copy the others when they find them in a similar scenario. They watch attentively to see where they start, but Cocoa mistakes their attention and she attempts to come off as a smart older sister. Chiya lends her a hand, along with Sharo, who is much more naturally good at it and is the only one capable of making any sense. She lets the other two derail as they try to talk seriously, with their words going straight over the younger girls heads. They attempt to come up with an adult conversation as well, but Cocoa shoots it down.

It's then Aoyama approaches them, so they ask her about eating the cakes. When she suggests they eat them "normal" they start asking what her idea of normal is, causing her depression while Cocoa tries figuring out what they were talking about. Chiya attempts to read their lips but causes Cocoa to worry after she misreads them, thinking they have no respect for her. The trio send Aoyama to observe the older four, but this causes Chiya and Cocoa to start getting tense in an attempt to sound knowledgeable again.

Eventually the girls decide to emulate Rize by sipping tea, standing the way she did and trailing her to the bathroom. She finds their behavior strange and waits in the area leading to the restroom to confront them. When the girls bring up the cake order she assures them it doesn't need that much thought, as long as they remember to enjoy themselves and use manners.

Everyone returns to find Sharo, Cocoa and Chiya setting up one large table now. Cocoa announces they will draw to see who gets which seat, and they agree after Rize confirms that she didn't rig it. Cocoa denies doing anything of the sort and the seating arrangement is decided: Megumi, Maya, Sharo, Rize, Cocoa, Chiya and Chino. Everyone is happy, except for Cocoa who wanted to sit by the three youngest. She gets ignored as everyone blissfully enjoy their tea, the trio ask about the adult conversation Chiya and Cocoa had earlier in hopes of finding out what it was about. Seeing their shock, Rize chastises them for showing off and not thinking this could happen.

Later, the seven girls make their way home as Cocoa promises to try harder to mature into a better older sister. She attempts to show this with Chino, but she runs away from her instead.

Arriving to Rabbit House they find a letter has come for Cocoa. To her surprise, its from Mocha, her older sister.

The following morning, Chino gets up and knocks on Cocoa's door to inform her its time to get up. After she doesn't get a response she steps inside to find a huge lump under the blanket. She tries waking Cocoa and pulls the blanket to see a stuffed animal in her place. Cocoa appears behind Chino and accidentally startles her, and she remarks on her strange behavior before Cocoa reveals the burnt breakfast she made. She explains her plans of helping Chino figure out her earlier inquiry.

Throughout work, Cocoa's strange behavior continues. They watch as she briskly pets Tippy, greets customers and show them to their seat and cleans. They even notice her part in her hair is different and wonder if she is a fake, so they test her out by making Chino "floofy" by holding several stuffed animals. Cocoa struggles to avoid the display and turns while covering her eyes, telling them they have to keep working.

As Rize carries some dishes, the girls start to worry over Cocoa as they find her on the floor, filled with grief as she reveals Mocha will be coming for a visit. They fetch her an ice pack to calm down, and Cocoa explains how much it would mean to her to come off as a responsible big sister by then. Mocha is very nice, and as the youngest of four siblings she wants to prove she can handle herself to impress her. Rize agrees to lend her a hand, but claims she isn't a sister for Cocoa to use before she can get that idea.

Later, the trio pay Chiya and Sharo a visit. When they ask for help, Sharo shows how she is able to easily calm down Chino, who was still in shock from earlier. Cocoa tries repeating her but this ends up frustrating Chino, and Tippy. Chiya asks Rize if Chino acted clumsy, would Cocoa look more responsible by default, and initially Rize shoots this down. But she slowly gives it some more thought and suggests they try, with Chiya playing the customer. Chino and Rize attempt to act clumsy and call for Cocoa to help them; but she is overwhelmed by their attempts to act differently for her sake and isn't able to handle it.

The group enlists the assistance of Megumi and Maya and they quickly check the premises for dirt. Maya scolds Cocoa's poor job cleaning while Megumi treats her like a dog by asking her to play fetch. Rize questions this until Cocoa explains wanting to play with her little sisters, so the others decide to come up with several requests for her. They return to Rabbit House and she prepares latte art drinks for them and they are very impressed. Seeing this as a sign she has matured, Cocoa decides to attempt something fancier, which makes Chino happy- although she warns Cocoa that she has a long way to go yet.

Later, Chiya and Sharo have a chat after Ama Usa An is closed. Sharo is convinced she wouldn't make a good big sister but Chiya disagrees. Sharo insists that instead of putting on airs Cocoa just needs to be herself. They go on to bring up that Chino has been happier as of late, and Chiya starts to wonder if Sharo might be worried for them. Sharo quickly denies this.

Meanwhile, Chino's dad and Tippy chat with each other during the bar shift. They discuss Mocha's plans on stopping by soon, but eventually begin bickering over trivial matters.

The next day, the girls determine that Mocha is probably arriving at the station and recall how in her letter, she explained that she wanted to find the Cafe on her own. Seeing how quiet Cocoa has become, the girls try snapping her out of it. As this is going on, Chino wonders what Mocha may be like.

Elsewhere, an older girl sits on a train and observes the passing scenery. She sees the town in the distance and happily smiles.
